WETNOSE

The Wet Nose Animal Rescue Centre is a registered ‘right to life’ animal sanctuary that is involved in the rehabilitation and re-homing of abused, unwanted and neglected animals.

 Our Vision is…

  • rehabilitate and re-home abandoned neglected and unwanted animals;
  • support owners in distress and offer a personal service to owners and animals alike;
  • educate the public, especially children and to eradicate ignorance about animals;
  • facilitate the adoption of animals into caring homes;
  • ensure that every animal has a caring and loving home;
  • actively promote sterilisation programmes as an animal population control measure; and
  • have every animal identifiable by a tag and as an alternative a microchip.

Animal in  Distress

ANIMALS In DISTRESS

It should be established at the outset that The Society for Animals in Distress (SAID) is not a ‘homing’ organization. And only by visiting our special farm is one able to appreciate the uniqueness of our dynamic Society. As a major non-profit provider of professional veterinary services since 1958, we strive to create a safe and healthy environment for all animals within educated communities north- and north-east of Johannesburg.

Teams of Animal Welfare Assistants (AWAs), in vehicles equipped with two-way radios and veterinary supplies, are dispatched daily to Tembisa, Winnie Mandela Park, Ivory & Ebony Parks, Diepsloot, Olievenhoutbosch, Mooiplaas, Zevenfontein and Cosmo City.

Animal anti cruelty

ANIMAL ANTI CRUELTY

A non-profit making organisation, and do not receive a subsidy from the government. The Animal Anti-Cruelty League has been protecting and caring for animals since 1956.  It is the second biggest independent animal welfare organization in South Africa, and relies entirely upon the generosity and goodwill of the animal-loving public for financial support. All monies donated or raised, are parsimoniously managed, to ensure that every Rand is accounted for and makes the difference to as many needy animals as possible.  We are an organization that gets involved with all aspects of animal welfare.

  • We provide shelter for abandoned animals
  • Promote an efficient adoption programme
  • Prosecute animal cruelty cases
  • Operate welfare hospitals and provide primary veterinary case for lower income groups
  • Visit underprivileged areas with fully equipped mobile clinics
  • Regularly address schools and clubs on the challenges of animal welfare
